Captain Timothy Cleghorn, the owner and operator of Barefoot Charters, brings years of experience and deep local knowledge to every guided fishing trip. Raised in a family with strong ties to both recreational and commercial fishing, Timothy developed a love for the water at an early age. That passion has grown into a lifelong pursuit—one that he now shares with anglers from all backgrounds. His calm, approachable nature makes him a favorite among both new and returning guests.
For Timothy, fishing is more than just casting lines—it's about teaching, adapting, and making the day enjoyable and productive for every client on board. He has a talent for reading the water and understanding fish behavior, helping guests improve their skills while having a good time on the bay. Whether you're new to fishing or looking to sharpen your technique, Timothy offers helpful instruction without pressure, always tailoring the trip to your needs and experience level.
His preferred method is free-lining live bait with light tackle, a hands-on style that requires patience, timing, and finesse. This technique is especially effective for targeting redfish, trout, and flounder in the shallow waters around Rockport and Aransas Pass. By using light tackle, Timothy provides a more interactive experience that allows guests to feel each bite and stay engaged throughout the trip.
Trips are run aboard a 23-foot Mowdy flats boat, built in 2020 and powered by a reliable 200HP Suzuki engine. This boat is designed for shallow water navigation, making it ideal for the bays, channels, and flats of the Texas coast. It comfortably accommodates up to 4 anglers and reaches cruising speeds up to 45 knots, getting you to the best fishing spots quickly and efficiently. The layout is clean and functional, allowing for smooth casting, gear storage, and a comfortable ride for all aboard.
